This study elucidated the physical, thermal and functional and in-vivo properties of a gum obtained from the stem of Araucaria heterophylla. Fourier transmittance infra red, differential scanning colorimetry, scanning electron microscopy and x-ray powder diffraction. The sample had peaks at approximately 19.350, 20.743, 26.935, 42.861, 53.731, 2-theta in the x-ray powder diffraction pattern. The results obtained in this study establish the fundamental characterization of Araucaria heterophylla gum. In-vivo study was done on wistar albino rats for the oral acute toxicity study. It shows safe results as zero mortality of animals.
